My name is Richard Gordon MD, and I am a practicing Cardiologist in Prescott, Arizona and the President of UC Well. During my teenage years, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, a condition that significantly impacted my health and quality of life for over three decades.
As my disease progressed, it became refractory, leading to persistent rectal bleeding and leaving me on the verge of requiring a total colectomy. Fortunately, my gastroenterologist was open to exploring an innovative therapy developed by Dr. Jay Pravda. Remarkably, within just a few weeks of beginning treatment, I experienced a full recovery, with normal bowel function restored.
A colonoscopy and biopsy conducted twelve years later, in 2012, confirmed the complete absence of disease, and I continue to remain in excellent health to this day. Based on current medical understanding, my ulcerative colitis has been effectively cured. After observing others whose ulcerative colitis has completely resolved, I am convinced that Dr. Pravda’s therapy may effectively target the underlying cause and holds the potential to serve as a cure for millions who are suffering with this disease.
Inspired by these promising outcomes, our group established UC Well with a singular mission: to conduct rigorous clinical studies that will objectively ensure its availability to all individuals affected by ulcerative colitis. Our initial objective is to secure $2 million in funding to conduct a proof-of-principle clinical study. This study will provide critical insights into how we can advance toward a clinical trial, ultimately making this treatment accessible to all individuals affected by ulcerative colitis. With your support, I firmly believe there is a real opportunity to achieve a true cure for this disease.
